Lorwyn-Shadowmoor Origins

This chapter provides rules for backgrounds and species of player characters from the realm of Lorwyn-Shadowmoor. These elements suggest the characters' early experiences and family origins before taking up an adventuring life and learning the capabilities of a class described in the Player's Handbook.
Heroes from the realm of Lorwyn-Shadowmoor might embark on the adventures described in chapter 4, or they might find their way to another setting, at the DM's discretion.
Backgrounds
Characters from the realm of Lorwyn-Shadowmoor can select one of the following backgrounds. Origin feats are described in the x.
Feats
These Origin feats are appropriate for characters from Lorwyn or Shadowmoor.
Adapting Species
The following species are native to Lorwyn and Shadowmoor. Player characters of these species should use existing rules as noted in the descriptions below, while customizing a character's physical description and personality as desired.
- Playing a Boggart. Use the Goblin species (see Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse) when creating a boggart player character.
- Playing an Elf. Use the Elf species (see the Player's Handbook) when creating an elf player character from Lorwyn or Shadowmoor. For the character's Elven Lineage trait, select Lorwyn or Shadowmoor from the Elven Lineages table.
- Playing a Faerie. Use the Fairy species (see Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse) when creating a faerie player character. Shadowmoor faeries have Darkvision with a range of 120 feet.For suggestions on how to run a faerie nonplayer character, see chapter 3.
- Playing a Flamekin. Use the Fire Genasi species (see Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse) when creating a flamekin player character.
- Playing a Kithkin. Use the Halfling species (see the Player's Handbook) when creating a kithkin player character. Shadowmoor kithkin have Darkvision with a range of 120 feet.
Species Descriptions
The following two new species are described below: Lorwyn Changeling and Rimekin.
