Scroll Scribe

Create and Share Powerful Spell Scrolls

Any dedicated Wizard can translate one of their spells into a Spell Scroll, imbuing a scrap of parchment with the full force of its arcane power. As a Scroll Scribe, however, you focus almost exclusively on crafting scrolls for yourself and others. Your magic is largely recorded in advance, requiring careful preparation but granting extensive arcane power.

Scrivener

Your skill with a quill grants you the following benefits.

Arcane Handwriting

Copying spells into your spellbook costs 5 GP per level of the spell.

Calligrapher's Supplies

You gain Calligrapher's Supplies and proficiency with them. Additionally, you can use Calligrapher's Supplies as a Spellcasting Focus for your Wizard spells.

Scribe Scroll

Whenever you finish a Long Rest, you can create temporary Spell Scrolls using the following rules.

Creating a Spell Scroll

When you create a Spell Scroll using this feature, choose a level 1+ spell from your spellbook to record and expend a spell slot of the spell's level and spell components as normal. This Spell Scroll lasts until you finish a Long Rest.

Universal Scrolls

Any creature that can read at least one language can read a Spell Scroll you create using this feature and cast the spell contained within it. The spell uses your spell save DC and spell attack modifier.

Recycle Spell Scroll

You can take a Magic action to destroy a Spell Scroll created using this feature and regain the expended spell slot.

Total Spell Scrolls

You can only have one scroll for each spell level, up to a level 5, at a time.

Arcane Revision

Level 6

When you use your XPHB, you can create a Spell Scroll using your XPHB. You can use spell slots recovered with XPHB to create a Spell Scroll in this way. You can also change the spell recorded in each Spell Scroll you created, replacing the spell on the scroll with one you have prepared of the same level.

Warding Scrawl

Level 10

Whenever a creature casts a spell using one of your Spell Scrolls, it gains Temporary Hit Points equal to your Wizard level plus the level of the spell. Additionally, it has Advantage on Constitution saving throws it makes to maintain Concentration on the spell.

Scroll Codex

Level 14

When you create Spell Scrolls when you finish a Long Rest, you can create a level 1, level 2, and level 3 Spell Scroll without expending spell slots for them. These scrolls don't count against your number of Spell Scrolls and can't be recycled to recover an expended spell slot. You can't have two scrolls at once that contain the same spell.
