The spell animates an Undead servant. Choose a target and an associated Undead creature from the Proto-Necromancy table. The Undead dies when the spell ends.
The Undead is an ally to you and your allies. In combat, the Undead shares your Initiative count, but takes its turn immediately after yours. It obeys your verbal commands (no action required by you). If you don't issue any, it takes the Dodge action and uses its movement to avoid danger. The Undead uses your spell attack modifier for its attack rolls.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot
When you cast the spell using a level 2+ spell slot, you can animate more powerful Undead as shown on the Proto-Necromancy table. Undead you create using this spell can't create additional Undead.
