You create an impediment which fills a 20-foot-radius Sphere centered on a point within range. Choose one of the following options.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot
Some of the following benefits require that the spell is cast with a spell slot of a specified level or higher.
Obscured
The Sphere is Heavily Obscured by your choice of fog, foliage, or heavy rain.
Hazardous (Level 2+ Spell Slot)
The Sphere is Difficult Terrain and contains thorny brambles, stone spikes, or icicles. When the Sphere appears, each creature in it makes a Dexterity saving throw, taking Piercing damage equal to 1d6 for each level of the spell slot expended on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one. A creature also makes this save when it enters the spell's area for the first time on a turn or ends its turn there. A creature makes this save only once per turn.
Grasping (Level 3+ Spell Slot)
The Sphere is Difficult Terrain and contains living vines, tentacles, or webs that seize creatures within it. When a creature enters the affected area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, it must succeed on a Strength saving throw or have the Restrained condition until the spell ends. A Restrained creature can take an action to make a Strength (Athletics) check against your spell save DC, ending the condition on itself on a success.
